Samer qualified as a dentist from the University of Manchester Dental Hospital in 1996 and then worked in general practice for 6 years.
He gained Membership of Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004. Following various hospital posts Samer joined the orthodontic specialist registrar training programme in Manchester in 2005.
He completed his specialist training in 2008 and also gained a Master of Philosophy from the University of Manchester.
